In his review of Yosemite: Exploring the Incomparable Valley, Pulitzer Prize-winning Globe critic Mark Feeney offers musical metaphors to describe some of the works on view, especially the celebrated photographs of Ansel Adams, who was trained as a concert pianist. Tonight at 5:30pm, the symbolism comes to life with a performance of new music by Yale students Jack Lawrence (JE ’18), Eli Brown (ES ’17), Max Vinetz (PC ’18), Max Lyman (YSM ’17), and Benjamin Fleischacker (ES ’17). The ensemble performs new and improvised compositions in the exhibition space, inspired by its themes, including the magnitude of nature, the ownership and protection of land, and the history of the people who have inhabited the Yosemite wilderness.
