印度河，巴基斯坦主要河流，其支流也有經過西藏及北印度。河名出自梵文Sindhu的拉丁語式拼法Indus——即「河流」之意，1947年印巴分治以前，印度河僅次於恆河，為該地區的文化和商業中心地帶。該河流上源為獅泉河（森格藏布），它發源於岡底斯山脈岡仁波齊峰東北方向的切日阿弄拉山口西側，源頭位於中國西藏阿里地區革吉縣境內，源頭溪流名為邦果貢^[1]。從喜馬拉雅山脈朝西北方向流入克什米爾，調頭向南流入巴基斯坦，在信德省的喀拉蚩附近流進阿拉伯海。河流總長度3180公里，流域面積100萬1549平方公里^[1]。印度河文明為世界上最早進入農業文明和定居社會主要文明之一，後來因為約二百年的乾旱而滅亡^[2]。
