Akinakes 的刀鞘，

 

Cet objet est un fourreau d’akinakès, un type d’épée d’origine scythe répandu dans l’Empire achéménide. Il provient du site archéologique de Takht-i Sangin et est composé d’une seule pièce d’ivoire qui permettait d’y insérer l’arme. La scène principale, entourée d’une frise de perles et d’oves, représente un lion dressé saisissant un cerf. Ce motif rappelle les combats d’animaux impliquant un lion, très fréquents dans l’art du Proche-Orient.

Ce fourreau est à découvrir lors de l’exposition “Tadjikistan. Au pays des fleuves d’or”, jusqu’au 10 janvier 2022.

This item is a scabbard of Akinakes, a type of sword of Scythian origin that was widely used in the Achaemenid Empire. It comes from the archaeological site of Takht-i Sangin and is made of a single piece of ivory that allowed the weapon to be inserted. The main scene, surrounded by a frieze of pearls and ova, shows a standing lion grabbing a deer. This motif is reminiscent of animal fights involving a lion, very common in Near Eastern art.
