被以色列實行經濟封鎖[編輯]
以色列安全局局長尤瓦爾·迪斯金（Yuval Diskin）表示他並不反對放鬆貿易限制，但他認為西奈的走私隧道以及加薩走廊的開放港口威脅了以色列的安全。迪斯金認為，哈馬斯和伊斯蘭聖戰組織已經走私了「5000多枚射程達40公里的火箭彈」。有些火箭彈射程甚至能遠至特拉維夫市區。
以色列總理辦公室發言人馬克·雷格夫（Mark Regev）表示以色列的做法是「制裁」而非封鎖，但聯合國近東巴勒斯坦難民救濟和工程處的一名加薩法律顧問稱封鎖是「不符合國際法的行為」。
2010年7月，英國首相大衛·卡梅倫（David Cameron）對封鎖表示譴責，他說：「人道物資和救援人員必須能夠雙向通行。加薩不能也絕不應成為集中營。」作為回應，以色列駐倫敦使館發言人表示：「加薩人民是恐怖組織哈馬斯的囚犯。哈馬斯的統治和行動重點直接導致了加薩局勢。」
以色列國防軍嚴格控制以色列和加薩走廊之間過境點區域內的通行，並封鎖了與加薩交界的地區。加薩走廊及邊界地區（包括與埃及交界地區和海岸沿線）都非常危險，局勢隨時可能發生變化。
面對國際上日益高漲的要求放鬆或解除封鎖的呼聲，埃及和以色列從2010年6月起放鬆了限制。埃及部分開放了埃及到加薩的拉法過境點，埃及外交部清楚表示過境點的開放主要是為人員通行，不能運送供應品。以色列宣布將允許嚴格意義上的民用物品進入加薩，但要防止某些武器和具有雙重用途的物品進入哈馬斯控制的加薩走廊。
2011年5月28日，埃及開放了與加薩走廊陸路相連的拉法口岸，外界對加薩的封鎖至此結束。
2009年1月至2010年6月間，以色列向加薩走廊運送了約20億磅救援物資、1.37億升燃料以及5萬噸廚用煤氣。
