The carving on this intimidating headgear depicts a fantastic eagle, holding a deer head in its beak, with figures carrying geese on either side. It’s around 2,300 years old and was found in the tomb of a Scythian chieftain in the Altai mountains in Siberia. It’s thought it may have been worn in his final battle, as the damage to it corresponds with the fatal wounds on the man’s head.
