Isambard Kingdom Brunel was born #onthisday in 1806.
Opened in 1854, the present London Paddington station was designed by Brunel and was the grand terminus for the Great Western Railway that he’d always planned. These illustrations of the station’s exterior and interior are taken from ‘The Railway Herald Station Album’ published in 1898 and most notably show Brunel’s use of wrought iron and glass in Paddington’s roof.
